How to Watch the Solar Eclipse in Columbia

October 10, 2023

Catch a magical moment this Saturday, October 14 between 10:30am and 1pm as Columbia witnesses a partial solar eclipse. While we're not in the path of 100% totality like MidMO was last time, we'll still get a good show as the moon passes in front of the sun. It's not safe to look directly at the eclipse, so we recommend heading to one of these viewing events around town.

CPS PLANETARIUM VIEWING PARTY - this free event features solar telescopes set up outside Rock Bridge High School while family crafts and activities will be set up inside.

MIZZOU VIEWING PARTY - head to Lowry Mall on the Mizzou campus for a free event complete with telescopes, safety glasses and experts on hand to answer questions.

If you're busy at one of the other amazing events happening in town this weekend or just enjoying a quiet day at home, grab some eclipse glasses (next-day delivery available from Amazon!) and look up. Stay tuned for our next eclipse opportunity in 2024...
